Baby's A Comin'
Hi Friends!
We wanted to give you a quick update from snowy Columbus, Ohio--we are now officially full term--we hit the 37th week today! Hooray!
We had a doctor's appointment this morning and everything looks great. Walter's heartbeat is very strong, we're measuring well. Our doctor thinks that we will be right on course to deliver right around March 9th; which is great because our apartment is currently in the process of being painted. And when I say apartment, I mean the entire apartment!
Our "Ohio" baby shower was this past weekend and it was so much fun! Walter got to spend time with both Gram and Nana as well as Papa, so it was a very exciting weekend. We had a great time at the shower and everyone is so excited for Walter's arrival.
Brian and I also took an infant CPR class last week, which was informative and fun. We're contemplating getting our certificates framed at the moment. :)
Please enjoy some of the latest pictures of the now completed nursery! The last little bit of business we need to take care of is putting the correct monogram over the crib. :)

Happy New Year and Feliz Cumpleanos
Good Evening and Hello!
It's been quite awhile since our last blog, but we are back and have some exciting updates to share with everyone! We hope that you had a great holiday season and 2010 is off to a great start for you and your loved ones.
Baby Walter is doing great! It's hard to believe that we are 41 short days away from D-Day. We had a doctor's appointment this afternoon and everything is great. Walter weighs almost 5 lbs. now and is the size of a canteloupe! The baby is moving and grooving all around and Brian and I are getting very familiar with how the baby is lying. Walter has been lying head down for quite awhile now, but it's pretty cool that we can now identify when a foot or an elbow shifts! I will really miss being pregnant as it has been a very powerful (and empowering) experience to watch and feel life develop inside of you. The heartrate is in the 150s which is great and at this point in time, the brain and lungs continue to develop and fat is accumulating under the skin. Brian and I both agree that based on our family genes, this is going to be a little chunky monkey :)
We had our first shower this weekend up in Michigan and it was fabulous. We enjoyed spending time with my mom and grandma. Everyone is so excited to meet the little one...Walter is so loved already, it's great! The shower was up at the Voyageur restaurant (where we had our rehersal dinner) and we had about 50 people attend! Mom worked with the lady that made our wedding cake to do cupcakes with animal faces, which were absolutely adorable (I'll be sure to attach pics later) and we had a great time. It was a feeling of deja vu at the shower as 10 short months ago, a lot of the same women that came to the shower were there celebrating our wedding shower! Everyone was very thoughtful and some of the highlights that we loved were the addition of books to Walter's ever expanding library, a hand-knit teddy bear which we named Maynard and a handmade, hand-painted Noah's Ark that was made by a man in Ohio. We're excited for Walter to play with it when he/she is a bit older.
The nursery is thisclose to being finished! We have just a few things left to do--paint lamps and buy lampshades, iron the curtains on the windows and finish covering the pads for the glider. We'll send out pics and then pics of the the final room, which I think will be done within the week!
As for Brian and I, we are doing great! We'll be celebrating my big 3-0 on Friday! My only request was to have ribs!
More updates to come very soon! Take care!

Another note to Fr. Jenkins..
Dear Fr. Jenkins...
I wanted to write you another note today. I appologize for being so hard on you after the Michigan game. That was a rough day in the Tomlinson home.
It's a great day in the Tomlinson home today though! I wanted to say "thank you" for hiring my buddy, Brian Kelly. Daddy, Papa, and Uncle Bobby have been asking for a while now for you to consider him as the next coach at Notre Dame. Mommy and I are glad that you chose him. It makes Daddy very happy I think.
Anyhow..I have to get back to growing now. Perhaps we will meet one day!

Thankful for our Little Turkey!
Finally, our blog hiatus has been lifted and the Tomlinson clan is back online! It’s been awhile since our last post, so thanks for your patience. Between Beat Michigan Week, a sorority recruitment frenzy, writing the next great American novel and some extensive traveling to exotic locations such as Fort Wayne, Indiana, it’s been a whirlwind month and the Thanksgiving holiday could not have come at a better time!
Things are great here in Columbus. Our doctor’s appointment at the beginning of the month was a success and sadly, was our last ultrasound of the pregnancy. Next time we see Walter, it will be in person! The ultrasound showed a very healthy baby with fingers, toes, a belly and even some facial features. However, when looking more closely at the ultrasound pictures, we determined that Walter looks more like Skeletor than a baby. Our doctor, Page Turner (we can’t make this stuff up), is extremely pleased with Walter’s progress. Walter is of normal size and has a solid heart rate of 127 beats per minute. This appointment would have also marked the time in which we could have found out Walter’s gender, but holding true to our word, we really want to keep it a surprise until Walter’s birthday. Brian and I are already bragging that Walter has excellent hearing and has great respect for us because Walter’s legs were demurely crossed during the entirety of the ultrasound. So even if we would have wanted to know the gender, we would have left that appointment still in the dark.
Earlier this month, we made the trip up to Michigan to pick up the baby furniture that Gram, Great Gram and Uncle Ross had graciously bought for us. After a couple of mishaps with our Ryder truck, we made it safely to East China and back, taking with us my childhood that had been packed away in Rubbermaid containers in my mom’s basement. The nursery is really coming along quite nicely. The new paint job and the furniture, along with some new curtains (thanks Nana and Papa) have really transformed the room into, well, a nursery. We still have a few things to purchase and hang on the walls, but we are pleased with how it is coming along. Check out our photos of the nursery!
As for Brian and I, we are getting very excited for Walter’s arrival. Walter has become quite active and is moving around all over the place. Brian was able to feel Walter moving around for the first time this past Saturday, which is an event that he will surely remember as it occurred on his dad’s birthday while watching Colts pre-game coverage on ESPN—an event that he will always remember!
We look forward to a great Thanksgiving and are thankful for the abundant blessings in our lives—especially our family, friends, and a healthy baby Walter.
Wherever you spend this weekend, safe travels and Happy Turkey Day!
